Creating Timeless Designs through Hand-Built Models and Precision!

Architecture is more than just the construction of buildings; it is the art of shaping our lived experiences through the thoughtful design of spaces and materials. Great architects understand that the buildings we inhabit and the environments we move through profoundly influence how we perceive and engage with the world.

For Yash Sahai Gupta, this philosophy took root during his high school years in Delhi, where an encounter with the iconic works of modernist pioneers like Pierre Koenig and Mies van der Rohe sparked an enduring passion for architecture. The city’s own brutalist marvels further captivated Gupta’s imagination with their bold materiality and forms.

After completing his undergraduate studies in India, Gupta’s architectural journey continued at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). There, he delved into the cutting-edge realm of parametric design while advocating for the preservation of modernist heritage buildings in his thesis on New Delhi under the guidance of Ryan McCaffery an architect who has worked under Wang Shu a Pritzker Price winner. “Structures like the Hall of Nations by Raj Rewal played a vital role in shaping the city’s identity,” Gupta laments. “Their demolition is an irreplaceable loss.”

Gupta is particularly concerned about the proposed redevelopment of New Delhi’s railway station, whose original design held immense cultural significance. “For the first time in independent India, there was a single platform for all castes, symbolizing a step towards equality. Altering this modern landmark erases an important piece of our nation’s history.”

After graduating from RISD, Gupta joined the renowned Stelle Lomont Rouhani Architects, who has designed homes for celebs like Hugh Jackman & Deborra Lee Furness, Aerin Lauder and many others. Working under renowned and visionary architect like Michael Lomont in Bridgehampton and New York City. Currently, he oversees two exclusive residential projects—one under construction in Sag Harbor and another in the design phase in Southampton—both reflecting Gupta’s minimalist, modernist design ethos.

“The design process involves meticulously crafting physical models until we achieve a perfect expression of space, materials, and the client’s vision,” Gupta explains. This hands-on approach deepens his appreciation for architecture’s tangible, experiential nature.

Beyond design work, Gupta contributed his talents to the firm’s first studio book, capturing their architectural language through detailed sketches. As he continues to shape luxurious spaces while honoring modernist principles, Yash Sahai Gupta emerges as a passionate voice for architecture that is as thoughtful as it is sculptural.
